Kadavu Classic

Over seven days and six nights we combine world-class sea-kayaking and snorkeling with treks through rain-forests, visits to isolated villages, picnics on beaches, side-trips and surprises. We overnight in small, simple resorts, and spend one night as guests in a village. No camping! The beautiful marine environment and lush, tropical landscape of Kadavu are both the back-drops and the star attractions of the Kadavu Classic.

Day 1 : Arrive to Kadavu
At 11am we rendezvous at Fiji's Nadi International Airport, in time to board the 45-minute Sun Air flight to the island of Kadavu. From there a 1-2 hour scenic boat ride will ferry us along Kadavu's coastline to Waisalima Beach Resort. Time for a sea-kayaking refresher course, and/or a swim /snorkel off the beach.

Day 2 : Sea kayaking and Hiking
We have a great day trip planned: sea-kayaking along the coast and up into the mangroves at the head of Kavala Bay, then trekking into the rainforest for a refreshing swim under a towering waterfall, before returning to Waisalima Beach Resort for another night.

Day 3 : Snorkel and Sea kayak to Ono
Before lunch you will take a short walk into the rainforest to view a huge banyan tree, before boarding the motor-boat for a guided snorkeling trip along the outer Great Astrolabe Reef. (Scuba diving also available.) After lunch you will sea kayak across the channel to Ono Island, then around the coast to Mai Dive Resort.

Day 4 : Snorketling and Sea kayak Ono Island
Today you’ll have the rare opportunity of snorkeling among gentle, giant manta rays, at a secret spot near Mai Dive Resort. For those up for a challenge: a 5-6 hour sea kayaking circumnavigation of Ono Island. Less energetic options available, including relaxing in the naturally beautiful surrounds of Mai Dive Resort. (Scuba diving also available.)

Day 5 : Sea kayak to Matava
The day starts with a motor boat ride from Ono Island back across the channel to Kadavu Island. From there, a few hours sea kayaking along the island’s most remote coastline, through reef passages, across lagoons and past small islands, brings you to Matava Resort. Beach picnic and snorkeling session along the way.

Day 6 : Sea kayaking to Fijian Village
The day starts with time to snorkel amongst the amazing coral off tiny Waya Island. (Scuba diving also available.) From there we'll paddle to a nearby village for traditional Fijian meal, rest a little, then trek along a trail through the rainforest to a spectacular waterfall and swimming area. Back to Matava Resort by motor-boat, and a final evening in Kadavu.

Day 7 : Depart Kadavu
More snorkeling for those still interested, otherwise a sleepy morning. Another scenic boat-ride (1 hour) to Kadavu's airport, a farewell to the guides, then a 45 minute flight back to Nadi International Airport and onward travel plans. (Scheduled arrival time back in Nadi: 1:45pm)
