This 13-day adventure allows you to experience the rich diversity of Australia. From the bustling streets of Sydney, to the formations of Uluru in the red center, a journey on the world famous Ghan train, the culturally rich outback, and the lush tropics of Darwin; you’ll get a taste of everything that makes Australia the unique and magical destination that it is.

Itinerary & Adventure Highlights

Day 1: Sydney

Arrive Sydney and enjoy a free day to explore the city and acclimate. The hop on-hop off cruises/open air buses are a great way to enjoy an overview of this amazing city.  We can suggest some great options for lunch and for dinner this evening.

2 nights Sydney

Day 2: Sydney by Bike

One of the best way to see Sydney is on 2 wheels, with the guidance and in-depth knowledge of a local. Your cycling guide will take you to see the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour (cruising right by the yachts!), the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Hyde Park, the Anzac War Memorial, Chinatown, Sydney Tower, Parliament House, Queen Victoria Building, Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of NSW, and over 30 more great attractions! You will even stop to rest at a warm friendly pub halfway through the tour.

Day 3: Sydney

Enjoy your choice of options for sightseeing. A visit to the Opera House, the Sydney Harbour bridge climb or perhaps a day hiking in the Blue Mountains.

Day 4: Sydney to Ayers Rock

Arrive Ayers Rock and enjoy some free time this afternoon. This evening dine under the stars at the “Sounds of Silence dinner”. The sunset views of Uluru followed by the night sky, make for a once in a lifetime experience. After dinner you’re invited to immerse yourself in the Field of Light experience. Glistening pathways with glowing rhythms of colored light that beckon you to explore.

Day 5: Uluru to Kings Canyon

An early start gets you to the Uluru sunrise viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytiaku, to catch the first rays of sun that will set the red center alight, while you enjoy a  cup of coffee or tea.  Travel around the base of Uluru to Mutitiulu Walk, where you’ll be escorted to the beautiful Mutitiulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings, learn about the native flora and Aboriginal and European history of the Uluru, and visit the Uluru-Kata Tiuta Cultural Center to continue your Aboriginal education and to see Aboriginal arts and crafts.

1 night Kings Canyon

Day 6: Kings Canyon to Alice Springs

A guided climb to the rim of the canyon offers marvelous views of Watarrka National Park over the course of a 3 hour walk. For those who may wish to start the day in a less strenuous fashion, you can explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor. You’ll stop at Kings Canyon resort before traveling to Alice Springs. Enjoy views of the Mac Donnell Ranges while you relax this evening.

Day 7: Alice Springs

Capture the spirit of the outback on a 4WD safari through the West MacDonnell Ranges to an Aboriginal community renowned for its art collection.  See spectacular rock formations and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the Finke Gorge National Park before enjoying the changing colors of the West MacDonnell Range on your journey back.

Day 8: Alice Springs

Depart Alice Springs aboard the Great Southern Railway world famous Ghan train. You’ll enjoy dinner and the on board hospitality while you share stories with your fellow travelers.

Day 9: Alice Springs to Darwin

A stop in Katherine allows you to explore the river-carved, sandstone gorge. Partake in one of 15 optional Whistle stop tours, which include canoeing, gorge cruises, kayaking, and scenic flights among other things. Make the most of your time in Katherine, before you are back on the move and enjoying your last meal on board and the changing landscape. The lush tropical vegetation signals your arrival into Darwin.

2 nights Darwin

Day 10: Darwin

Visit the Chinese Temple, lush botanical gardens, the historic sites of the city and perhaps the famous Darwin market.  Board a local cruise for an interactive cultural experience – complete with a cruise to a sand bar to try your hand at spear throwing, playing a didgeridoo, and creating traditional Aboriginal craft items.

Day 11: Darwin to Kakadu

Travel deep into Kakadu National Park, where you’ll take a guided walk to view ancient Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock. After lunch, climb aboard the famous Yellow Water Billabong Cruise to view saltwater crocodiles and the colorful range of prolific bird life that this region is renowned for. Continue your cultural immersion by visiting the Warradian Aboriginal Cultural Centre; with its informative displays and exhibits depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people. An optional 50-minute scenic flight is available for those wishing to add to their experience.

1 night Kakadu

Day 12: Kakadu to Darwin

You’ll join an Aboriginal guided cruise along the East Alligator Riverand; with the special permission of the local people, go ashore in Arnhem Land and visit the Bowali Visitor Centre.

Day 13: Depart Darwin

Today, depart Darwin airport for your onward flight.
